The minimum hardware requirement for the Android devices are:

  • Android OS version 2.2 or higher
  • 512MB RAM or higher

The CAVS RS II app, when installed into the Android devices, can work with any karaoke player in the world. The app is in addition designed to directly communicate with the following CAVS Karaoke players:

  • CAVS All-In-One systems (SA-G1012W, SA-GMIX12, SA-F1002, JB-F1012W)
  • CAVS JB-199 (I, II) players
  • CAVS Karaoke Laptops (Co101, EC101, PO101, PR101, SR101)
  • CAVS Touch Screen players (SA-95, TA101, TA103, TB101, TB103)
  • CAVS PlayCDG KJ Deluxe 64 LT software player

There are two versions of the CAVS RS II app. The first is the free version (v3.1.2) downloadable from the Google Play store. The second is the full version you can purchase from below. Both versions, when working with the CAVS karaoke player, can

  • Import the song list wirelessly
  • Find the songs using Scroll, Sort, and Search
  • Reserve the songs instantly to CAVS Karaoke players
  • Create and manage Favorite Lists
  • Run karaoke contest  and score the singers
  • Receive & display messages

The free version of CAVS RS II app is designed for the customers of karaoke shows/parties where the customers can wirelessly download the song list and reserve the selected songs. The free version however does not allow the customers to Play, Stop, Pause or Cancel songs because such action may interfere with the karaoke shows. The free version prevents a customer from selfishly stopping or cancelling a song of another customer.

The full version of CAVS RS II app on the other hand allows the full commands to Play, Stop, Pause and Cancel songs in the CAVS karaoke player. This full version is designed for the karaoke jockeys or managers who are responsible for running the karaoke shows. The full version allows the operator to migle with the customers and manage the show from anywhere on the floor. The full version, in addition to those functions of the free version, can perform the following functions:

  • Play songs in Queue
  • Stop or Pause songs
  • Cancel songs in Queue

Other noteworthy chararteristics of the CAVS RS II app are:

    CAVS RS II app can display more than 300,000 songs in 40 different languages. It can sort and search the song list by index, title, or artist at a touch of your fingertip. It can also scroll and jump to any page using the scroll bar and alphanumeric tabs.

    CAVS RS II app can create and manage unlimited number of Favorite Lists for customers. It can store the favorite songs for each and every customer for easy and quick access.

    CAVS RS II app can run karaoke contests, allowing each customers to score the singers wirelessly. Share the fun of karaoke with everyone, the singers and listeners alike.

    CAVS RS II app can receive and display messages, such as who is next to sing, the last call for drinks, or someone left his car lights on. The app literally rings in the messages into your iPhone or iPad.

    CAVS RS II app has the options to limit the users from reserving or playing songs. In the free version, it has the option to view and search only, without reserve. In the full version, it has the three level options:

    • Disable Reserve and Disable Remote Control
    • Enable Reserve and Disable Remote Control
    • Enable Reserve and Enable Remote Control

    Up to 256 Android devices, installed with CAVS RS II app, can connect simultaneously. The connection is based on wireless intra-net network and does not require the public Internet that may or may not be available in local bars or restaurants.

HOW TO SETUP
How to setup CAVS RS II App in Android devices

Go to the Android Play Store from the App page of your Android Smart-phone or tablet.

Download and install the CAVS RS II App into Android phone or tablet.

Having installed CAVS RS II App, go to the App page and select the Settings.

Locate the Wi-Fi and turn it ON.

Next select the Wireless Router that is connected to the CAVS RS II Server program. In this example, the router is CAVS Router. Tap on the CAVS Router and the following popup will appear. Press connect.

Confirm that the CAVS Router is connected.

Return to the Home or App page to start the CAVS RS II App.

HOW TO OPERATE

In the Home or App window of the Android device, tap on the CAVS RS II App icon and start the App.

  1. Main Menu
  2. The Main Menu of CAVS RS II App will appear as below.

    • Song Book
    • Search by Title
    • Search by Artist
    • Queue Status
    • Favorite List -
    • Contest Board
    • Settings

    Note the colorful burst (red, blue, green) at the top left corner of the screen. The colors indicate

    • Red: Not connected.
    • Blue: Connecting / Downloading a song list.
    • Green: Downloading completed / Ready to go.

  3. Settings
  4. Tap on the Settings.

    The menu inside the Settings will appear.

    Tap on the Set Server IP which will bring up the following pop-up window. Type in the IP address of the CAVS RS II Server program. Press OK.

    The IP address can be found on the CAVS RA II Server program in the CAVS Karaoke player or Windows PC. Click on the CAVS RS II Server icon in the task bar to open its screen. When open, the IP address will be written at the top of the screen, next to the title CAVS RS II Server.

    After setting the Server IP, the color of the burst icon on the top left corner will turn blue signaling a successful Intranet connection. The burst will then turn green indicating that the CAVS RS program is ready for use.


  5. Song Book
  6. Tap on the Song Book.

    The song list sorted in title will appear. You can re-sort the list by tapping on Index, Title, or Artist buttons.

    You can scroll or move to any page of the song list using the yellow scroll bar on the right.

    Tap on a song you wish to select. Request reservation window will appear. Type in the customer name and press Done.

    Set the pitch (key) and tempo levels. Press the Reserve button to reserve the song, Add Fav. button to add the song to a Favorite List, or Cancel to return. If you wish to skip the customer name, pitch, and tempo controls, press the down arrow to lower the keyboard.

    If you wish to skip the customer name, pitch, and tempo controls, press the down arrow to lower the keyboard.

    If you press Add Fav. button, the following Add to favorite list window will come up. This is same as if you press and hold on a song in the song list. Type in the account name or create a new account by inputting a new account name. Press the Add button to add or Cancel to return.

  7. Search by Title
  8. Tap on the Search by Title.

    Input field and the keyboard will appear as below. Type in the word or any part of the word you wish to search (for example, Love). Press Go.

    Songs with matching title will appear. You can re-sort the list by Index, Title, or Artist pressing the respective buttons.

    Tap on a song to reserve or add to a Favorite List as shown above in Section 3. Songbook. You can also press and hold on a song to add to your Favoriate List as shown above in Section 3. Songbook.


  9. Search by Artist
  10. Tap on the Search by Artist.

    Input field and the keyboard will appear as below. Type in the word or any part of the word you wish to search (for example, Jason). Press Go.

    Songs with matching artist will appear. You can re-sort the list by Index, Title, or Artist pressing the respective buttons.

    Tap on a song to reserve or add to a Favorite List as shown above in Section 3. Songbook. You can also press and hold on a song to add to your Favoriate List as shown above in Section 3. Songbook.


  11. Queue Status
  12. Tap on the Queue Status

    The following window will show the list of reserved songs with their customer names.

    Note that the reserved songs can begin playing automatically depending on the options set in the CAVS Karaoke players. For the details on how to set the options, see the User Manual of your CAVS Karaoke player.


  13. Favorite List
  14. Tap on the Favorite List.

    The following window will appear. Press Load.

    Type in an account name.

    If the account exists in the Favorite List, the songs stored in the account will appear. If not, you will be asked to create a new account as below.

    To add songs, press AddT button to find songs by title or AddA button to find by artist. In this example, we press AddT. Type in a word or a part of a word in the input field and press Search.

    From the search result, select the songs you wish to add by placing the check marks. Note that multiple songs can be selected. Press Add.

    A confirmation window will appear as below. Press Add to confirm.

    The Favorite List will now show the added songs.

    Tap on a song for the follwoing window. You can reserve the song to Queue or delete the song from the Favorite List.

    Note that when reserving a song from a Favorite List, the customer name field is pre-filled with the account name.


  15. Contest Board
  16. Tap on the Contest Board.

    The following window will appear. Select the score level and press the Confirm button to send. Note that your score will not be accepted until it is asked for by the CAVS RS II Server.

    Watch the TV showing the karaoke lyrics. The "Send In Your Score" message will begin to roll across when the CAVS RS II Server is ready to accept the scores. This message will continue to roll across until the scoring period is ended.

    You may send in your score once or multiple times. Depending on the Setting in the CAVS Karaoke player, the multiple entries may or may not be accepted.


  17. Message Receiving
  18. The CAVS RS II App will signal you with a chime and a message icon on the top row of the screen when there is an incoming message from the CAVS RS II Server.

    Pull down on the top row to display the message.

    Press the Return button to clear the message screen.


  19. How to operate without the CAVS RS II Server program
  20. When using an Android device as a stand-alone unit, you can load the song list with a micro SD card. Insert the micro SD card with a copy of the song list into the Android device. A message "Preparing SD card" will appear on the top left corner. From the CAVS RS II App, go to Settings and press the Update List from SD. The song list in the micro SD card will begin loading into the Android device.

    Warning: Many Android devices do not share the same naming convention for its micro SD card. After tapping on the Update List from DD card, if you see an error message "Fail to open song list. Java.io.FileNotFoundException:.../.../.../cavsbook.txt (no such file or directory)", then you should note that CAVS RS II program is searching for the cavsbook.txt file in the directory ".../.../.../." Such folder may or may not exist. If not, please create the folder. Next copy the cavsbook.txt file from the SD card and paste it into the directory ".../.../.../." Again tap on the Update List from SD to load the song list into the Android device.

    The required format of the song list that can be imported through the SD card is as follows:

    • The first field is the index number followed by the pipe "|" sign.
      The pipe "|" sign is inserted by typing Shift-\.
    • The second field is the title followed by another pipe "|" sign.
    • The third field is the artist name followed by Enter for the next line.
    • When saving the song list as a text (txt) file, be sure to select UTF-8 as the Encoding format.

    Each language is denoted by following abbreviations:

    Note that there can be more than one cluster of songs of same languages (in the example, there are two clusters of songs of Spanish, Russian, and Korean languages). In such cases, CAVS RS II Server program will automatically combine the clusters into one group per each language.
